Unable to change avatar

I've tried six times now with various pictures, all in .jpg format with no success. Any suggestions? Does it take time to change? I deleted the previous avatar just fine. However the new avatar no matter what file I chose, turned into the previous one which I deleted.

Actually it should work quite simple:
1. Go to edit profile
2. Upload image JPG (will be resized to 100x100); don't use a 2 large image
3. Press "Submit"
4. Press CTRL+F5

Did it. No dice. Which is why I posted here. Thanks for the prompt reply.
EDIT: Besides why is the pic I already deleted coming up again? I changed my username just now. Does that make a difference?

I noticed there was something wrong with it too when i was premium, anyway this is how i managed to change my avatar.

1.Delete the old one, than submit.
2.Refresh
3.Put new picture, than submit
4.Refresh

It happened to me plenty of times. You need either wait some time until it changes or refresh for several times. Be patient

Almost 2 years later and i have the same issue...
