For wall making here is what I suggest: Instead of double clicking on a city and having to drag the counter to select a unit, you could click the city or stack of units and hit W (for wall, but obviously could be any other unassigned key) which would select just 1 unit of the cheapest stack of units so usually 1 militia or 1 infantry if you have no militia. This way you could even more quickly build walls around your cities plus wherever else you needed. The current way to do it is alright but I'm just saying it could be a bit more streamlined and honestly, why spend any more time with the nitpicky details like building walls (which is necessary but not, in my opinion, a very fun part of the game)?

Alternately, you could just hold W and click the city or stack of units and it would auto select the 1 cheap unit. Let me know what you guys think and suggest anything else if you can of ways to make wall-making a little less tedious.

In regards to unit production: I stole this idea from an old post by Arbitrator but once you click a city, you could quick build a unit by pressing the letter key that starts its name (I for Infantry, M for Militia, etc). Click M once, you build one militia.

The current way to do both wall making and unit production are fine but adding hotkeys will help shave off time for all of these more tedious tasks where having to move your mouse back and forth around the screen clicking in different areas could simply be reduced to a keystroke. If hotkeys even gave you an extra free 30 seconds during a 4 min turn, it could make a pretty significant difference if there's a lot going on.

In general, I'm highly dismayed about the lack of actually useful hotkeys in this game and I'm sure there's even more ways the game could be streamlined with hotkeys. If you think of any, please suggest them.

This is because micromanagement (which especially concerns the formation of walls) is an integral part of any strategic game play, no matter how dull.

This wouldn't be too bad though. Wouldn't hurt to have it, nor would it hurt to not have it.

Please no quick automatic walls ideas.

In quick games thinkin what cities are a priority to wall is big part of strategy.

Lmao @ the walling hotkey, i could imagine joining one of goblins duels and driving him nuts by putting 3 units in every city and mashing on the w key XD

ofc then youd need a hotkey for wf as well, which wouldnt be the worst of ideas, eh skend?

It wouldn't be automatic. It would simply let you select the one unit you need for each segment of the wall slightly faster. You'd still have to drag each unit around and place them and such and such. Basically, I suggest this from a standpoint of a player who has played Starcraft to a certain degree and while you can do things relatively quickly by clicking around, you can save valuable seconds and give yourself the upper hand if you're utilizing the hotkeys. It would be no means automatically make all your walls for you. I apologize if my original post gives that impression.

I'm all for the micromanagement. Goblin's post gave me the impression that people may be understanding my post to be suggesting automatic wall building by clicking a certain button and I want to clarify that's not the case. You'd still have to drag the units around as usual to place the wall. It just makes selecting each of one of those units for each wall segment slightly quicker. In all honesty, I don't mind building walls, I just wouldn't mind it if there was a quicker way to select 1 unit without dragging your mouse everywhere. As mentioned, not horrible to do it that way, just a little thing that could be improved upon in my opinion.

With your suggestion building walls would be way much faster.

I dont like that, not because i dont like walls, but because it gives an edge to a player with more countries and cities ....and players having more countries and cities isnt always about skill ...some countries can naturaly spread more and have more troops and then they need to build more walls for does cities and spend more time doin that, which balances the game for a player with less land ...thats what my 2 min duels are about

That's actually a really good point. Good enough to make me abandon that suggestion. Now all I can cling to in this thread is an ok idea I took from someone else haha. Thanks for the input though!
