RP - Often a word of disdain in the AtWar community, a ravenous hole of SP farmers, Ally Fags and Noobs. A cesspool of grotty fellows, upon which the glory of EU+ 3 V 3 will never shines upon. Perhaps true, for many i'd agree the level of play is low, with stacks upon stacks of tanks and planes. The epitome of strategy being that of someone actually using stealth units. A cluster-fuck of useless custom units, sprinkled across the walled horizon. But...a light shines through, a spark of ingenuity, a flicker of hope. You see, RP holds the potential to be the most addicting, edge of your seat experience you will ever face in AtWar. And all it requires is one simple change; switching from capital victory to Total Annihilation. immediately the game changes from massive stacks hitting each-other, the immovable objects being hit with the unstoppable force. To that of true theaters of war, with every city being vital, every inch feeling like a mile, a glorious tug of war. All the while a mix of mind games, political maneuvering and a little espionage making every second count. The glorious feeling of pushing back your attacker taking him inch by inch and instead of him giving up or simply stacking to take your capital, instead he now falls back, walls and performs a counter offensive. Such a stark transformation from just one little change. So I propose to the community, maybe it is not the game of RP that is the problem; just simply how we play it.

Just because some people use unusual words doesn't mean they have a thesaurus, perhaps they simply have an affiliation and love of English. perhaps they write in their spare time. or perhaps they just have a bigger vocabulary than most people. Besides it's not exactly a bad thing to use unusual words, it spices up discussions and makes usually monotonous subjects just a tad bit more interesting.

I'm spanish and even if it was kinda hard to understand since I still don't have the level to fully understand every single word, I think I understand your point and I really loved how you wrote your message btw, I don't mean to be rude but just realist: I don't really know if that would solve it all. I really agree that it would fix part of the problem since people would have to do more than just spamming bunkers and walling like a scared baby to save its cap from huge, really really huge stacks of just... tanks... and more tanks.... so many tanks that you lose count. But I wonder if that would actually help players to realize that the game is just a bit more than stacking and taking cities one by one with enourmous stacks. Furthermore, I wonder if they would accept that change, if they would adapt to it and improve their skills and basic strategies.

Thanks for the reply. And sorry if it was confusing to read. Yeah I'm kind of doubtful if players would adapt to such a change. But I also thought on the flipside, it'd get more competitive, higher ranks into RP as well. Creating a new kind of fusion, and hopefully the community would rub off on each-other, and stop this animosity between us. It's just a fun game at the end of the day.

No no, it's not confusing but hard cause I need to look up some of the words lol but it sounded so nice that it didnt even bother me to do the effort XD high ranks that hate RP will keep hating it though, i have no doubt about it, but as long as it improves the level of RPs it's a good idea since it will make difference between "pro" and "noob" a bit smaller

Of course there are problems with the map itself (stupid amount of units, with some being stupidly op (Sea mines for one)) but whenever I played a full game of RP TA; i found it to be a much more fun, engaging and strategic experience. of course it all comes down to the players at the end of the day, and people will often Ally Fag no matter the map. Sp farming is much less of a problem now due to the negative multiplier. I was hoping that if TA RP got more popular it might bridge the gap between the RPers and more competitive side of AtWar Fresh talent is never something to turn your nose up at.

Main RP problems:

- Allyfagging. Solved by limited allies, which doesn't fit with the type of game in which everyone seeks to find a lot of allies. Impossible to accept.

- Spamming units. That's a map problem, impossible to solve except by changing the map itself. Only the map maker can do it.

- No skills. Hard to solve... the map itself makes players not worry about skills that much...

- Bunker spaming in own capital. Could be solve with total anhilation. Now they will need to choose where to spam all those bunkers instead I guess... right??

Total Annihilation will change nothing.

RP is already set with the standard rules of "No Spreading". If your capital falls in RP, you have likely already lost the rest of your territory. RP isn't some sort of colonial map where you have an empire that controls Britain, India, Australia, South Africa, and Canada at the same time. RP is built on "no spreading" and because of this, total annihilation would be pointless as your entire empire would be set around your capital anyways, rather than overseas, so that if you lose one part of your empire you can still exist.

The issue people have with RP is that it is literally a dumbed-down version of the Standard World Map. It is designed to make it hard to attack people, give you tons of SP, make strategies useless, easy to spam units, and to be diplomacy-oriented, but because it is not a scenario, it is literally just the Standard World Map split into more countries with more units, useless ones. Playing total annihilation on a Standard World Map is extremely similar to that of capture enemy's capital. The only actual difference is that one's capital is not as well defended, which at the end of the day, makes no difference to whoever wins.

Similarly, in RP, making it total annihilation would not chance gameplay. Empires would still be centered around where they started as they expand in all directions, and it would continue to be diplomacy-oriented. People would not attack each other without a declaration of war either way, because there is nothing less at stake because your empire is still in the exact same place. You do not have colonies around the world, it is still the exact same thing in the exact same place, and by the time the center of your empire, your capital, is reached, you probably lost anyways.

I am inclined to agree with Kentuckyball.

There are many ways to improve AtWar role-play. Switching to total annihilation is not one of them.

As for the topic, support. The old times in which all the games were like "Me vs world" are over. Now with the custom map we can have news and varied game-play's, that they don't like to role-play is another history.

I agree, playing withtotal annihilation is a different game.
Anyway, you'll have to conquer the whole RP map !!

I think 700 turns would be a fair limit ...
