We are competing. It is against lower-tier clans, though. (Because r1-5s do not have a chance against real competitive clans who have been in the game for ages)

If by vassal you mean training coalition then that's great.

If you actually connect with the people in it (typically leadership that trains them) they will train you as you're showing motive to do so. It's how it works in any clan.
