Depends, what kind of power are we talking here: raw or cunning. Are we talking about population size which you can recruit into military, large industry base and its output, or shrewd politics, lobbying, diplomacy(using peacetime and daily geopolitical events to further your goal without provoking or making big global consequences)?

If raw power, then China, if plotting, then Israel is the most powerful.

It's not only about US, it's the US with all the English speaking world in its back. If this world order will some time be replaced, people will talk of it like a new Roman Empire. The English will be studied in schools like Latin and Ancient Greek is etc. Pax americana is the new Pax romana.

Long since the days when countries like the UK, Russia or even China realistically competed with USA. However in saying that Russia is the only country that forces USA to think before doing stuff. Some interesting events have happened recently, I wonder how different this may be by say 2030
