Mentor System

Now, I'm a new player, and I've haven't been playing for even a month yet, but it seems that I've arrived in a middle of a huge crisis... there is no fresh blood within the game to challenge the established players, and most people are leaving as a result. I'm one of the lucky ones, who has managed to learn fast enough to become frustrated and leave, and begin to meet people within the community. I've been thinking, and one of the main reasons I've been able to keep up with the learning curve is because of Makarov (Thank you), who has been teaching me to help me learn and become part of the larger community.

So why not apply this to all new players? Give them a system to reach out to?
A mentor system which people can apply to would ensure a stream of fresh players who have skill, consistently, while the strategies are being updated to ensure competitiveness. This worked in Showdown (online competitive battle pokemon, yes pokemon, don't underestimate it), allowing new players to get mentors to teach them one-on-one and be initiated into the larger world.
So... throwing it out there as an idea for you advanced players and mods.
Hopefully I'll get some support and this can become a "thing" by which fresh blood can be added to the game.


Also, we should make the forum more accessible, I had serious problems finding it and the strategies on it originally. (It was only through the MoS guide by learster that I found it.)

Well, I doubt they'd implement a real system for mentoring. However, I think they should offer incentives. It's a hard road to map any way you look at it.

The best thing we can do is encourage higher ranks to share their wisdom. The fact is, some things are best kept as secrets. Sort of like a magician not revealing their secrets. There is secrets like specific strategies, openings, tactics, etc. but then there are the basics to becoming a solid player and able to learn new things yourself. This is what I've been teaching you for the most part. Not many high ranks, to my knowledge, understand the fine line between teaching new players to be solid and teaching them very specific and intense strategical/tactical knowledge.

Once they understand, assuming they didn't, then it's just a matter of reaching out.

Right, I agree with the part about the secrets, but I find most newbies don't know they can reach out, or are unwilling. I really want to find some way to change that.

Also, for those who want to be better, you can try to rank up to 6-7 and join a coalition who does clan wars , usually the leaders train and practice with lowbies. I personally never needed any help

Haha~ He's a higher ranked player, and willing to teach me the basics. What more do I need? Also, rank 6-7 takes time, I'm talking mostly about the totally new players that just joined like 4 days ago.

I remember in Charazay(online basketball manager game) you could apply to be a teacher and other players from low ranks could choose you as a teacher. It was simple and helpful.

and that's how I know my character is yet to come into question.

Very often when I won WW2 I didn't want to play untill the end to kill the remaining stubborn Australia. Many of them are also failed scenarios where we all quit turn 1 cause of a leaver or wallfucker. Of course some of those games are losses, but they will never surpass my wins

By the way, I have just defeated your mentor a minute ago in a duel. It took me 4 turns. I forgot to take SS, but you can check my duels.

Yeah sad thing about that is I had a few chores to do. I had 45 seconds left to expand from Germany... I mean you do the math xD It took 12 just to get a transport landed in Sweden.

But see the difference between a good player and a bad one is only how they accept things. I accept my losses as they are- and I did lose to Unleashed. There's always somebody better.

True, many games you have to leave because some reason or another, but saying that happened 1000 times is hard to believe. I rather look at the battles (PVP) w/l.

On the other side even a good win/lose doesnt have to mean shit.

Losing in 3 turns as a rank 8 versus your own rank then changing username to hide has to mean something

What can you teach these newbies, lol. What I said in my first post still stands, join a coalition who CWs if you're serious about getting good.

Most of my losses are for the same exact reason.

and, I had an awful expansion. But at the very least I don't need to compensate. I can hold my own against most any player here- excluding perhaps tophats and the other mainstays of AW strategy legend. I'm not hiding by the way. You stole this username from me last month, and I've decided it was time to reclaim it.

Unleashed has a 26% Win ratio. I am not 100% sure But I haven't seen someone over rank 7 with a worse ratio.

For comparison, I'm a shit player and my ratio is at 37%!

and 20 of them are surrenders just for the lolz.

In charazay they had a page about this. You could apply to be a teacher so others newbs could know who can teach them.

I am gonna hit u with the truth.The answer is newer players are just fucked up lazy and want everything cut out for them without even trying.If you just read forums and play you can be a descent rank 6-7 without any help whatsoever.to go from there to the next level you need to practise alot and give in effort.I help players to do that and the truth is many of them just dont want to learn.THEY DONT.i never had anyone teach me anything when i was there and some of these guys you throw them at their feet and they are just bored to put in the effort.They just want to automatically win without effort.
some other players actually do put the effort thats why we have some awesome rank 6 and 7 that can beat rank 8 and 9 easily.

there are a lot of tips in the forum take your time to understand them and keep practicing by playing in competitive arena also there are high ranks who are likely to help you if you ask

Low ranks need to know about clans and how to join them as soon as possible. I think Safari or someone made a pic showing how this could be implemented.

There should be a button for easier access to forum or even one for the strategy guides located amongst the other buttons in the top corner. Easier access to the information will help. Really though most of what you will learn from the game comes from playing and trial/error.

I think there should be a MasterTeam as a statu like supportors etc. Then all new players can ask them to train theirselves.
Admins/Mods can pick Masterteam members and the team consist of maximum 10-15 players. Thats the my idea.

i agree and another thing, for me only players with cetificate of MoDs should see "help chan", today i saw 1 rank 8 insulting and trolling 1 rank 1 and rank 0.
