Simply a completely different meta; most older players are used to only slowrolling or expanding at maximum efficiency, watch any old guide videos 2013 - 2015 and you'll see that every time. Nowadays it's all about rushing, mindgames, and movement resolution efficiency.

Now 2011-2012, that was real nigga shit. Competitive 5k standard with proportionalized reinforcement starts, unbreakable flower power walls, ludicrous Imperialist and Iron Fist, and the legendary one unit TB was some next level autism.

You have no idea what TB was like when I first discovered it in April 2011, all the way until it was patched permanently a year later, you first ten-twenty moves were typically spamming single units at your opponent's cities/stacks for TB with 100% chance; A TB wasn't a gamble or a commitment like it is now, it was a guaranteed move as simple as an attack is now.

I've played multiple 3v3s with you, lurked your CWs, and lurked your duels, for close to a year just like many other players.
