There have been a few incidents lately related to players sharing their accounts with others. In some cases, this has included sharing with banned players as a way to let them play the game.

As per the game rules, if you share your account, you will be held responsible for any actions that occur through your account.

Citat:
4.2 Member accounts are non-transferable. Registered users are responsible for any actions that take place on their accounts or private messaging systems.

Additionally, if you share your account with a banned player, you will be banned too.

Bottom line, don't share your account. If your "friend" does something and gets your account banned, we will not undo it, and we will not refund any premium days you lose as a result. It's not worth the risk.

Let's say that someone would not do anything nefarious on a shared account and is not an already banned player. Say that a player would allow another player to play for him during a non-competitive game that is over 2+ hours and something has come up that requires in real life action. What are the consequences for this?

Soo, for how long are you gonna ban a player who shared his account with a banned player?

This mostly happens during WW1. I know many persons who share accounts. I think you should add some kind option that could replace player in match.

The problem is that you let someone in your account you are responsable. It isn't banned to share account but not worth the risk since the risk is only yours.

They see IP activity amongst accounts, they can see what Ip's have been active on what accounts and see if it links to the IP's logged in via a banned account.

Is this issue just concerning banned players account sharing on other people's accounts? I've seen people discuss account sharing in the case of having to leave games, which to me doesn't seem like an issue if its a non-banned person and they don't do anything bad.

Ghosting people (a.k.a sharing the account) to let someone else finish the game is not forbidden as long as everyone in the game is aware of it. Though you will be responsible of the issues that happen with your account. So we recommend to not sharing it, but it's not strictly banneable. Furthermore, Dave added the case "if you let a banned player use your account, you will be banned as well".

Heres a short story for the Topic : This happend to me recently. im semi retired now. i go months with out playing as i work out of town. i rent a room in my house and gave my old alt away, over 6 months ago ( its not shared, its permanently his account, he has even changed the password and name of it) Any how when i returned 3 weeks later from work my renter told me he had been ban for 30 days and all his hard earned elo was gone. i personally trained him and hes a pretty good player so he didnt want to start at rank 0 he wanted to start playing rank 5-7 ish players right away so i offerd him my low rank account that i had not used in years.. i understand that the IP address is same as he uses the provided wifi service from my house. You guys make the rules so im not bitching, BUT he felt wronged and in fact he WAS punished for no reason at all. he was so pissed he swore never to play again. to bad the community lost a future competitive player because of this...
