You don't just throw a strop and cancel tourneys because ppl aren't playing. The first round for any tourney is always tricky but once you complete it you generally are left with the players who want to play and will meet the deadlines. This is why you get reserves and disqualify those who won't play. It's not easy as aw is full of players who will sign up with no intention of playing. Ban them from your future tournaments. If you have to for round 1 and its holding up the tourney just advance the interested party.

Giving up and cancelling it after a mere week without sending any mails just screws over those who actually wanted to play. And i for 1 wont be joining your tourneys in the future.

Lets start from the least, i wont be making any tourneys anymore, so i dont find that as a problem. All i wanted to do is this one tourney, and trust me, i wanted it badly.
I already said couple of times that i wont be extending deadline for more than half matches, and i dont have enough reserves to play those matches either.

You have 30minutes max to play a game, 1 hour if first one is with no winner. If you are wondering why i canceled tourney after 5days deadline, well, look at the name of the tourney. Its rush. Fast games, fast tourney. Also i'm not going to beg players to play a game. I've sent pm and pr to couple of players, and preferable you can ask mods of how many times i've spammed global where i politely said to all players to play their tourney match. Once.. twice.. you didnt saw it? k. 50 times? Well fuck.

What happened to the good old tournaments that lasted for half a year or a whole year...

Give the rounds a reasonable amount of time instead of giving like insta-wins straight to the finals without actually playing 1 match at all?

What the hell happened to this 'competitive' scene? Make like once in a year the yearly tournaments with like 60+ participants, sure make some 1 min or 2 min 5k tournaments but dont make like 4 of the same tournaments in the same month?

Short deadline in that is okay? And by "short" and "deadline" i mean 10 minutes max to start a game. Thats okay but when i want to make faster tourney by putting 5days deadline for the first round of 30min game, thats not okay?

Most retarded tourney ever. We didn't even get message that tourney started and that we should play matches. You expected people to play even though you didn't send them messages?

part of the problem with the tournament scene in general. Meh this just pissed me off, the 1 tourney since hugos where i was interested enough to make an effort and the host gives up on it with no effort and without even handing it off to someone else.

More like the other way around....

This thread it is obviously a personal issue made with no other purpose than to bash steve. There has been many tournaments cancelled in the past due to inactivity and the thread is not addressing nor discussing this. If anything Steve did a good job saying that the tournament is cancelled (So we don't have to be pending to a dead tournament, like the GW Tournament).

I'd rather a host cancelling the tournament than THIS OR THIS with few match before it's end and a severe inactivity, leave alone tournaments like THIS that never got to start.

your post here is because of a personal issue, it allows you to paint me as the bad guy. Find me one other cancelled tournament cancelled within 9 days of it opening after half of the games were completed. Nothing? thought not.
